Policies and Practices

The Somers Land Trust has adopted a number of official policies and practices as outlined in the documents listed below. These documents have been approved by the Somers Land Trust Board of Directors and should be understood by all who participate in any Somers Land Trust programs or volunteer events.

Conflict of Interest Policy: The Somers Land Trust functions for the public benefit.  Our effectiveness and credibility depend on avoiding even the appearance that we are acting for private, and not public, benefit.  We have therefore adopted the following conflict of interest policy to which all persons associated with the Somers Land Trust must adhere:

Safety Practices: Safety is our highest priority at all Somers Land Trust events.  During some activities, such as volunteer days at Angle Fly Preserve, tools may be used which require proper operation, safety equipment, and/or training.  All volunteers must adhere to the Safety Practices outlined in the following document:

Whistleblower Policy: The Somers Land Trust requires its directors, officers, and representatives to observe high standards of business and personal ethics in the conduct of their duties and responsibilities.  As part of this commitment, we have adopted a formal whistleblower policy as outlined in the following document:
